CHAPTER 7

The doctor didn't perceive the underlying meaning in Li Jia's words and felt a bit embarrassed when she said, "I'm sorry..."

Li Jia smiled good-naturedly, holding the flowers in her arms, appearing even more innocent and harmless.

At that moment, Ye Chengxing finished the discharge procedures and returned, coincidentally catching the apologetic gaze from the doctor. Her tone was serious and sincere, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you these past few days."

Ye Chengxing paused for a moment and replied, "It's okay."

In fact... it couldn't exactly be called a misunderstanding. She had transmigrated here, and if she hadn't, this world's "Ye Chengxing" would indeed be the type of Alpha that the doctor saw as a failure.

The discharge procedures were already completed, and Li Jia followed Ye Chengxing and sat in the elevator.

Ye Chengxing parked the car in the hospital parking lot.

She had found a moment to drive the car over after Li Jia's physical condition improved.

Over these two days, the people from the original body's circle—her so-called friends—had sent her numerous messages, but Ye Chengxing hadn't replied to a single one.

After getting into the car, she handed a beautifully packaged small box to Li Jia and smiled, "A discharge gift."

Li Jia took the box, feeling something, and her eyes flickered.

She opened the box, and as expected...

The box contained the latest model of a mobile phone.

Li Jia thought that the changes in this life were too significant, but considering Ye Chengxing's peculiar interests, it seemed reasonable.

However, upon closer reflection, there was a faint sense of dissonance.

All she had now was a face and a body, and she had displayed enough dependence and trust in the other person. But as the days went by, Ye Chengxing never showed any signs of slipping up, instead, she became increasingly attentive and considerate.

This Ye Chengxing in this life had a subtle resemblance to the previous one but... not entirely the same.

Ye Chengxing started the car and, in the gap between moments, glanced at Li Jia with her peripheral vision.

Omega held the phone in her hand, her fingertips tightening, and her expression slightly frozen.

Ye Chengxing felt a bit nervous. She couldn't truly consider herself knowledgeable about this world, even though she had memories and had read some original texts. But these everyday objects weren't thoroughly mentioned in either existence, so she didn't know if this phone could be considered good. Thinking that Li Jia might not like it, she spoke, "If you don't like it, we can exchange it for something else. It's okay."

Li Jia took the phone out of the box, the phone touching her skin, giving a slightly cool sensation. She suddenly chuckled silently.

"No, it's just that I didn't expect Sister to buy a phone for me. It's a bit sudden, especially since they never let me touch these things before..." Li Jia's tone was flawlessly feigned, and she lowered her eyelashes.

She was intrigued, trying to guess what Ye Chengxing's next move would be, but she couldn't figure it out.

Was Ye Chengxing planning to continue being good to her, win her heart, and then crush it under her feet?

She hope she can try harder, but at this level, it's still not enough to make her feel pleased.

Ye Chengxing was obviously unaware of the thoughts in Li Jia's mind because she was focused on driving, her gaze fixed on the road.

Since the last encounter with the flying taxi, Ye Chengxing had made up for her knowledge of the traffic rules in this world. She memorized those rules, but for now, she was more accustomed to driving on the ground. She planned to try driving in the air when she was alone in the car with no one on the road.

Ye Chengxing drove the car, listening to Omega's cautious and somewhat perplexed tone, and her mind couldn't help but think of those scum people. She felt heartbroken for a moment. The antagonist was truly pitiful. The more she thought about it, the more sympathetic she felt. She almost blurted out, "What does a phone matter? Whatever you want, sister will buy it for you."

But saying that out loud would obviously lead to misunderstandings. After all, their relationship wasn't intimate enough to say such things, even though she had let Li Jia call her sister. In Omega's eyes, her kindness might have seemed inexplicable.

The current situation indeed didn't provide much reason, so she had to take it step by step.

Ye Chengxing silently repeated this sentence in her mind three times, stabilizing her mood, and brought up another topic, "By the way, I found an empty house for you, but it hasn't been cleaned up yet. Can you stay at my place for now?"

Li Jia listened to her voice, a hint of interest appearing in her eyes.

Is she finally going to reveal her true intentions?

Although she hadn't had enough fun yet, a game is never fully satisfying.

Li Jia slowly opened her lips, like a hunter who had finally hooked her prey but wasn't in a hurry, "Sister, wouldn't that be too much trouble for you?"

"Not at all," in the brief pause of these few words, the car arrived at the villa area. Ye Chengxing parked the car, got out, and opened the door on Li Jia's side, "Consider this place your own home."

Li Jia picked up the phone, along with the gift box, and held them close to her chest, appearing to cherish them greatly. She lowered her gaze slightly and made a slightly embarrassed sound, "Sister, you're so good to me. I will definitely repay you."

In the angle hidden from Ye Chengxing's view, Omega's pupils trembled with excitement and pleasure.

Killing her in her own home seemed like a good choice after all.

.......

Ye Chengxing has spent most of the past couple of days in the hospital accompanying someone. If there is anything they need, it's arranged for the assistants to deliver it directly or buy new items.

Yesterday, they made a trip back home to bring one of the cars from the garage to the hospital for Li Jia's convenience when she gets discharged today.

Ye Chengxing hasn't stayed much in the villa for two reasons. First, because of Li Jia, and second, because the villa's interior decor was too gloomy with blood-like colors filling the entire place. The original owner had also collected many bizarre items, which made it feel oppressive to stay there for too long. Ye Chengxing had the AI [Artificial Intelligence] replace the decor and change its appearance. However, due to the extensive changes, it would take more than ten hours, and it was estimated to be completed on the day of Li Jia's discharge.

Although Ye Chengxing had already encountered the existence of AI in daily life, she still wasn't quite used to it when the AI greeted her upon opening the door.

The AI had transformed from its previous corrupt human-like appearance to a pure white, round little robot. It had four metal wheels at the bottom, and its face-like area had a display screen with emoticon-like facial features, making it look very cute, like an enthusiastic little sun.

"Master, you're finally home."

Saying that, it swiftly glided over to Li Jia's side. However, when it reached Li Jia, its tone became polite and courteous, "This person seems to be a new face. Should I remember them for you, Master?"

Upon hearing the AI say "Master," Ye Chengxing's expression subtly changed, but she quickly responded, "Yes."

She recalled the general procedure in her mind. The AI followed the Master's instructions, which meant that whatever she needed to do, she could simply voice her instructions. Ye Chengxing then pronounced Li Jia's name and even emphasized the two characters to avoid any homophonic confusion, making it easier for the AI to register and remember.

After registering, the AI's attitude towards Li Jia suddenly became enthusiastic. It busied itself, providing them with slippers and taking away their coats.

Ye Chengxing couldn't help but silently marvel at the convenience of the high technology in this world.

The AI's efficiency was high, and after the entire villa's decor was replaced, it became uniformly bright. There were also many vacant rooms, all tidied up and clean, ready for immediate occupancy.

Ye Chengxing's own resting room was on the second floor. She looked at Omega, who was still standing at the doorway, and smiled at her, "Li Jia, you can choose whichever room you want to stay in. I've already registered your information. If you need any help, you can directly call... Xiaobai for assistance."

As Ye Chengxing finished speaking, she paused for a moment, realizing that the original owner hadn't given a name to the AI in the villa. But calling it "AI" seemed strange, so she casually made up the name "Xiaobai [Little White] on the spot.

After this impromptu choice, she pondered for two more seconds.

Hmm, a small white, round robot. Calling it Xiaobai is actually quite fitting.

This villa was only occupied by Alpha, and besides Ye Chengxing, Li Jia was the only other person registered.

Li Jia looked into Ye Chengxing's smiling eyes and suddenly couldn't understand her actions. For the first time, she began to doubt her own speculations.

When Ye Chengxing registered just now, she didn't specifically avoid Li Jia, so Li Jia clearly saw that the permissions Ye Chengxing granted her were the same as her own.

This meant that she had direct control over the entire villa, including various passwords. If she wanted to do something, Ye Chengxing would have no idea.

Ye Chengxing... why did she give her such high permissions?

After all, Li Jia had come back from the previous life. Although the interior decor had changed, she knew that this was the villa where Ye Chengxing lived, not some extravagant residence bought to please her. But precisely because she knew this, she was even more puzzled.

Haven't so many close people argued over permission settings?

Did Ye Chengxing go to such lengths, risking everything by giving her the highest permissions, just to win this game? Wasn't she afraid of losing everything if she bet wrong?

Li Jia looked at the AI rolling around in the sunlight not far away. The AI's face displayed a happy emoticon, and the bright sunlight outside the French windows reflected another kind of light on the light-colored floor.

She couldn't help but wonder why everything around Ye Chengxing in this life was always so bright.

Too bright.

The brightness seemed to pierce Li Jia's eyes, so she looked away and said, "Sister, aren't you afraid of giving me such high permissions? Or is it that as long as you bring someone back, you always give them such high permissions?"

Ye Chengxing was momentarily stunned by her words, but she quickly denied it, "How is it possible to give such high permissions just by bringing someone back?"

At this point, Ye Chengxing met Li Jia's gaze from a not-so-far distance.

She squinted her eyes and smiled brightly, "But it's you who came home with me. I trust you."
