CHAPTER 127

Not only that, but when Qin Yinong didn't respond, Tang Ruoyao took the initiative and closed her eyes, tilting her chin slightly, her lips lightly parted, and said, "Ah."

Those who knew understood that she was asking to be fed, while those who didn't know might have thought she was inviting a kiss.

If Qin Yinong could kiss her, it would be even better, but Tang Ruoyao knew that it was an impossible thing.

Qin Yinong paused her fork and knife, studying Tang Ruoyao's beautiful face, which was close at hand. Compared to Qin Yinong's stunning and even envy-inducing appearance that could arouse same-sex rivalry, Tang Ruoyao's features adhered to the traditional aesthetics of the Chinese people. Her phoenix-like eyes and delicate nose, vermilion lips and white teeth, distant dark eyebrows were like ink and brushwork, looking upright and dignified. She was usually cool and aloof, not given to laughter or frivolity, which added to her air of being unapproachable, embodying the saying, "Look but don't touch."

Now, this high and mighty ice queen, as seen by others, was tilting her face and wagging her tail to please her. Her eyes and brows almost formed a childish curve.

An indescribable sense of satisfaction filled Qin Yinong's heart, and she couldn't help but reach out her hand.

Tang Ruoyao's mouth was slightly open, expecting the lamb chop to be delivered to her lips, but suddenly she felt a strange coolness on her cheek. She opened her eyes in confusion, and Qin Yinong's slightly cool fingertips landed on her face, revealing an unreserved tenderness in her eyes for the first time.

As soon as Qin Yinong saw her open her eyes, her heart suddenly raced, and she quickly retracted her hand as if she had been shocked. But Tang Ruoyao was even faster, swiftly grabbing her wrist and pulling her into her embrace.

Tang Ruoyao's eyes darkened, and she lowered her head to kiss, but Qin Yinong turned her head to avoid it, only allowing the kiss to land on her cheek.

Qin Yinong lowered her long lashes, her voice soft as she pursed her lips and explained, "I just ate something."

Tang Ruoyao smiled and said, "It's okay, I've eaten too. I don't mind."

Qin Yinong: "..." She pushed Tang Ruoyao's arm, indicating for her to let go and sit upright again. After a moment of silence, she replied softly, "You don't care about hygiene."

Tang Ruoyao took two seconds to react before bursting into laughter.

Qin Yinong felt both embarrassed and annoyed by her laughter. She raised her fork again, and Tang Ruoyao had already opened her mouth to receive it. Qin Yinong handed the meat to herself with the other hand, feeling a bit sulky inside, but showing no sign of it on her face as she calmly said, "If you don't eat it now, it will get cold."

Tang Ruoyao pretended to be clueless and moved closer to her again.

Qin Yinong put down her fork, lightly tapped the back of Tang Ruoyao's hand, her eyes and brows showing a hint of seriousness, "Sit across from me."

Qin Meimei (little sister) is temporarily offline, and now it's Teacher Qin and Sister Qin online.

Tang Ruoyao had no choice but to obey. She adopted a tone and imitated the ministers on TV, respectfully saying, "I obey."

A faint smile tugged at the corner of Qin Yinong's lips.

She thought to herself, shouldn't it be "this servant obeys" instead of "I obey"?

Two people being able to have a peaceful dinner like this already satisfies Tang Ruoyao. Anything else is just an unexpected pleasure. If there's something better, great. If not, it doesn't matter.

After finishing their meal, Tang Ruoyao used the excuse of needing to maintain distance from surveillance cameras when returning to the hotel. She managed to take advantage of Qin Yinong and kissed her lips until they turned red and moist before letting go.

As their lips separated, Tang Ruoyao deliberately acted surprised and asked, "There aren't any surveillance cameras in this private room, right?"

Qin Yinong's cheeks blushed, her heart pounding. She was still immersed in the atmosphere just now and nervously looked around, her expression filled with suspicion.

She was always cautious, and Guan Han entered with her at the beginning. If there were surveillance cameras, Guan Han would have warned her. Besides, why would they install cameras in a private room meant for enjoying a good meal? This place caters to high-profile guests with strict confidentiality requirements. Did the restaurant want to go out of business?

Qin Yinong quickly organized her thoughts within a few seconds, realizing that she had been played by Tang Ruoyao once again.

This little brat is getting bolder and bolder! She steps out of line and I still haven't taught her a lesson?

.....

Guan Han was seated outside in a booth where she could see the location of the private room door. As soon as she saw the door open, she stood up and walked towards the two of them.

The atmosphere felt a bit strange.

Qin Yinong walked quickly ahead, and Tang Ruoyao followed closely behind, taking three steps for every two of Qin Yinong's. Both of them were celebrities, and Tang Ruoyao didn't dare to call out. Whenever she got close to Qin Yinong, Qin Yinong would turn her head and glare at her, causing Tang Ruoyao to stop for a moment before continuing to chase after her.

Guan Han: "???"

Are they having a quarrel?

Qin Yinong and Guan Han met eyes and turned their heads to look at Tang Ruoyao again, their gazes cold. Tang Ruoyao looked embarrassed, like a child who had done something wrong. She took a step towards the woman, then took it back, looking pitiful.

Helpless resignation flashed in Qin Yinong's eyes, and she turned to Guan Han and said something.Tang Ruoyao watched as Guan Han approached her with a serious expression, holding a serious face. She said, "Qin Jie said not to follow her and agreed to walk separately."

Tang Ruoyao retorted, "Then ask her if she's still mad at me?"

Guan Han glanced at the distance between her and Qin Yinong, which was no more than seven steps. She had to relay the message, is this what they call a "wife-wife relationship" in legends? She liked it.

Guan Han pushed her glasses up her nose and solemnly said, "Alright."

Guan Han relayed Tang Ruoyao's words, but Qin Yinong didn't respond. She lowered her head and checked her phone.

Tang Ruoyao received a WeChat message: [As an exception]

It was soft and lacked any intimidation.

She couldn't help but bite her lip and chuckle. Then, she looked up and saw that Qin Yinong had already walked far away with Guan Han.

Tang Ruoyao put away her phone, feeling pleased, and left confidently.

Qin Yinong got into her own car. Along the way, she received a message from Tang Ruoyao: [You're so sweet]

Qin Yinong's face turned red, her finger trembled, and she almost dropped her phone.

Guan Han looked at her in confusion and asked, "Qin Jie?"

Qin Yinong pinched the tip of her thumb, calming her racing heart. If it weren't for Tang Ruoyao's face, Qin Yinong wouldn't be completely defenseless. She couldn't let Tang Ruoyao always overpower her.

Summoning her courage, Qin Yinong typed back: [You're being modest. You're the sweet one.]

Tang Ruoyao burst into laughter on her end. She knew she had walked into that one, so she quickly replied: [Then give me an example. How am I sweet?]

Qin Yinong: "..." She lost. She shouldn't have engaged in a battle of wits with Tang Ruoyao, this little troublemaker.

Qin Yinong: [I'll take a nap]

Qin Yinong decided to call it quits, and Tang Ruoyao took the opportunity to end the conversation: [You sleep. Send me a message when you reach the hotel.]

Qin Yinong was startled. She rubbed the edge of her phone absentmindedly for a while before slowly typing: [Okay]

Tang Ruoyao: [Muah]

After sending this message, Qin Yinong didn't reply anymore. Tang Ruoyao put her phone back in her pocket, crossed her arms, and closed her eyes to rest. They had drunk some red wine in the evening. Tang Ruoyao had an average alcohol tolerance—not bad, not great. Alcohol makes people tipsy, but beauty intoxicates even more. Now that things had quieted down, her head was feeling a bit dizzy.

She was awakened when the bodyguard pushed her to get off the car. Rubbing her eyes, she first reached for her phone and saw a message notification on the lock screen. She swiped the screen open.

Qin Yinong: [We've arrived]

Tang Ruoyao held her phone and couldn't help but chuckle.

The bodyguard cleared her throat, and Tang Ruoyao slightly restrained herself. She smiled apologetically at her, adjusted her expression, and got out of the car.

Today's teasing is almost enough. Sending more flirtatious words to Qin Yinong would be excessive. Besides, Tang Ruoyao had important matters to attend to. The intense scene they had filmed during the day had stimulated her greatly. Not only did she need Qin Yinong's guidance off-set to smoothly navigate the scene, but she also had to consider the long-term. She couldn't continue like this.

She had previously worked with a male actor in his forties who was already married with children. He was the type who was deeply committed to his emotional performances and had even won Best Actor in his early years. Tang Ruoyao could feel the profound love in his eyes when they acted together. However, in the film, his character had a one-sided love, so Tang Ruoyao was not affected. After the film wrapped up, for a long period of time, even during the promotional tours, they rarely appeared together. Emotions may not be easily controlled, but loyalty is a choice, especially in the entertainment industry where actors constantly play different roles in life. Now, when they occasionally bumped into each other at events, there was no trace of anything unusual. They treated each other like siblings, and Tang Ruoyao had even met his wife—a person from outside the industry who was gentle and virtuous, a great partner.

Before, when Tang Ruoyao wasn't with Qin Yinong, due to the circumstances of the film, she briefly developed feelings for someone else, which was nothing serious. But now it was different. Even during the filming period, if she were to have even the slightest extra affection for someone outside of the acting, it would be considered a betrayal. Even if Qin Yinong didn't mind, she wouldn't forgive herself.

But how could she change? It was almost like fundamentally altering her acting style.

Tang Ruoyao closed the door to her room and began rehearsing the script for tomorrow repeatedly. She had to separate Shen Muqing and Qin Yinong, no matter what.

.......

In front of Qin Yinong was a laptop with a bright screen, and the search bar displayed several search records:

Why do actors have difficulty distinguishing between reality and acting?

What to do when actors get too deeply immersed in their roles?

.....

Qin Yinong didn't know if it was because of her own difficult experiences, or because her first teacher was Han Yuping, or perhaps it was the differences between actors, but she had always been able to maintain a balance from the beginning of her film career. Even in scenes with intense emotional fluctuations, she would take a bit longer to recover, but it never affected her personal life. She had heard of actors like Tang Ruoyao, who would occasionally struggle with this, but finding an effective way to help them overcome it was a daunting task.

The thing she was least skilled at was theory and reasoning. She could only draw from her own experiences, but unfortunately, she didn't have any in this particular area.

Time passed quietly, and Qin Yinong took a sip of her cold coffee. Unable to find a solution, she sought help from an outside source—Lin Ruohan—who had a formal education in acting.

As soon as Lin Ruohan answered the call, she exclaimed, "You've called me three times in the past two days. If this keeps up, I'll start suspecting that you've fallen in love with me. Although I don't go for older people, I might reluctantly accept you as a concubine, considering your good looks."

Qin Yinong disregarded her shameless words and got straight to the point, saying, "I have a question to ask you."

Lin Ruohan responded promptly, "Ask away."

Qin Yinong organized her thoughts and said, "If someone easily carries the emotions of their character from the real life while acting..." She paused for a second and continued, "Or the opposite, if their real-life experiences affect the performance, especially in romantic scenes..."

"Huh?" Lin Ruohan was confused, restraining the urge to pull her hair. It took her a while to process before she responded, "Are you saying that they develop real feelings because of the role?"

"It's somewhat like that, but the other way around," Qin Yinong thought, Tang Ruoyao should be like this.

"Acting influenced by emotions?" Lin Ruohan simplified it and threw it back at her.

Qin Yinong took a deep breath. "Do you think those four words make any sense?"

Lin Ruohan chuckled on the other end. "You're the one who's being unclear and blaming me."

Helpless, Qin Yinong had to be more specific. "For example, two people are a couple, and they act together in a film. There's a breakup scene in the script, and one of them feels like they're actually being broken up with in real life, so they start crying uncontrollably. They can't follow the emotions of the characters as written in the script. How can they overcome this?"

"Oh, I see now," Lin Ruohan's mind flashed with a hint of curiosity as she asked, "So, who are these two people?"

"You don't need to worry about that."

"It would't happen to be you and..."

Qin Yinong interrupted her in a flat tone, "I'm asking for a friend."

Ah, here it is, the classic "I have a friend" series appeared. Lin Ruohan couldn't contain her laughter. "Okay, okay." Changing the topic, she said seriously, "Actors of Tang Ruoyao's age are indeed prone to this kind of problem."

Qin Yinong: "..."

Well, she had given away the keywords, so it wasn't surprising that she guessed it.

Lin Ruohan continued, "Let her finish filming the movie and then avoid getting involved in the industry for a while. Take a break and gradually she will recover. Those momentary dopamine rushes are just fleeting. Everyone is an actor, so don't be jealous, don't lose your temper. You should pamper your girlfriend, especially when she's younger than you."

Qin Yinong held back and said, "What I'm asking is how real-life emotions affect the performance."

Lin Ruohan slapped her own mouth, "Oh, I misunderstood. I thought you were feeling jealous."

"What jealous?"

'She doesn't know?' Lin Ruohan's heart skipped a beat. She quickly tried to cover it up, "It's nothing. Let's continue with the main topic. Isn't it simple? Just shower her with sweet words and practical actions before filming starts, give her reassurance, believe that you won't break up. Isn't that enough?"

"I've already done that."

"I knew it! You two are dating! Haha! You've been caught!" Lin Ruohan laughed.

Qin Yinong was speechless.

She sat up and went to make another cup of coffee. After Lin Ruohan finished laughing, she said, "Actually, I don't think you need to worry so much. If you handle it well, it can be a good thing. When you're filming, her genuine emotions will shine through, and that can be twice as effective. Having a ready-made girlfriend who suggests breaking up in front of her is an emotional experience that can't be replicated."

Qin Yinong unconsciously said, "I..."

Lin Ruohan asked, "What about you?"

Qin Yinong swallowed the words that had risen to her throat and shook her head. "It's nothing."

Directly, Lin Ruohan said, "You can't bear to see her so heartbroken?"

Qin Yinong didn't speak but silently admitted it.

Lin Ruohan sighed, "Why am I suddenly feeling a bit jealous?"

Qin Yinong composed herself and smirked, "Aren't you against dating older people?"

Lin Ruohan became frustrated, "I'm jealous of you! Such a beautiful ice queen, and you managed to win her over despite your lack of charm."

Qin Yinong felt quite pleased and chuckled. "How do you know I lack charm?"

"Damn it!" Lin Ruohan muttered under her breath,

"Don't tell me now that you're actually a hidden seductress?"

Qin Yinong made a noncommittal sound, her tone rising at the end. "Maybe."

Lin Ruohan realized that there was a hint of seductiveness, and now she felt regret. If she had known that Qin Yinong was a hidden seductress when she was younger, Lin Ruohan would have made her move. Regretting her past actions, Lin Ruohan repented with every word, while Qin Yinong listened indifferently, quietly contemplating her own matters.

"You're right," she suddenly said solemnly.

"Right about what?" Lin Ruohan's train of thought was interrupted, and she asked in confusion.

"We're shooting the breakup scene tomorrow, so it's perfect to keep her in this state. Han Yuping won't have to scold her as much." If Tang Ruoyao truly shows genuine emotions, Qin Yinong can comfort her afterwards. As long as they can make the film well, enduring a momentary grievance will be worth it.

Qin Yinong made a decision and thought about hanging up the phone. She said, "Are you going to another show?"

"I've finished watching!"

"Then you eat, and I'll go to sleep."

"Hey."

"When you return to the country, I'll treat you to a meal." Qin Yinong's voice lowered, not realizing the natural gentleness that emanated from her words, and said, "Goodnight."

Lin Ruohan was stunned for a moment, then smiled and replied, "Goodnight."

A woman in love is truly different.

She hung up the phone, looked up at the clear blue sky of a foreign country, sighed, and wondered when her destined soulmate would arrive.

.......

The next morning, in the lobby on the first floor.

"Senior Qin... Good morning." Tang Ruoyao covered her mouth with one hand, yawning while greeting Qin Yinong, tears welling up at the corners of her eyes.

"Good morning." Qin Yinong looked at her with a complicated expression.

Tang Ruoyao took the tissue from Xin Qian's hand and gently dabbed at her eyes. When her gaze met Qin Yinong's, she smiled and said, "I accidentally stayed up late last night."

Qin Yinong's gaze became more subtle, revealing an indescribable complexity.

Tang Ruoyao's phone in her pocket vibrated. She glanced at Qin Yinong, who was sitting on the sofa not far away, pursing her lips slightly and even furrowing her beautiful brows lightly, as if Qin Yinong, who seemed to be harboring a slight anger, was hard to understand. She lowered her head to check the message.

Qin Yinong: [Didn't I tell you to control yourself? Did you ignore my words?]

Tang Ruoyao: "..."

Tang Ruoyao: [I was studying the script last night.]

[System prompt: Q cut back a message]

Tang Ruoyao couldn't help but chuckle.

Qin Yinong whispered quickly to Guan Han, "Where are my sunglasses?"

Guan Han found them for her and handed them over, saying, "Here."

Qin Yinong hurriedly put on the sunglasses, and the lenses shielded her from Tang Ruoyao's teasing gaze. However, a trace of blush still uncontrollably tinged Qin Yinong's ears.

What is she constantly thinking about in her mind? Qin Yinong's cheeks flushed, and she engaged in deep self-reflection.

Today Tang Ruoyao's car arrived early, and she stood up first, saying, "Senior Qin, I'm leaving first."

"Okay." Qin Yinong, behind her sunglasses, looked at her calmly and composedly, saying, "See you on set."

"See you on set." Tang Ruoyao smiled, pressed the send button on the screen with her fingertips, and put her phone back in her pocket.

Qin Yinong's phone suddenly vibrated in her hand. She lowered her head and slid the screen open only after Tang Ruoyao's figure disappeared behind the revolving door.

Tang Ruoyao: [Why are you so cute?]

Qin Yinong stared at the message without turning her gaze away. Suddenly, she lightly bit her lower lip, but the curved eyebrows and eyes still revealed her sincere shyness and joy.

She glanced around, seeing that no one was paying attention, purposely put her phone on silent mode, and then took a screenshot of the message.

But all of this couldn't escape Guan Han's watchful eyes.

Guan Han couldn't see what Tang Ruoyao had sent to Qin Yinong, but just by looking at Qin Yinong's expression full of budding affection, she was almost knocked unconscious. Guan Han steadied herself against the back of the sofa, waiting for the group of chattering assistant directors to pass by, before she could break free from her mind, which was filled with fireworks and colorful flowers.

......

On set.

Han Yuping finished talking about the scene with the two leads, looking even more serious than yesterday. "Any questions?"

Qin Yinong: "None."

Tang Ruoyao took a gentle breath and said, "I'll do my best." As the filming was nearing completion, she felt a lot of pressure, especially after the scene from yesterday.

She felt a coolness on the back of her hand, and when she lowered her eyes, she saw Qin Yinong's hand covering hers, flipping her palm open, and gently wiping away the fine sweat with a tissue. There was a gentle encouragement in her eyes. "Don't be afraid, I'm here with you."

Tang Ruoyao knew she was referring to the filming, but her heart still thumped heavily.

She reached out and held Qin Yinong's fingertips, looking into her eyes. "Okay."

The script supervisor clapped the slate board. "Scene 48, one continuous shot for 'True Colors,' action!"

Han Zifei led Shen Muqing to a small river. She had no choice, Shen Muqing didn't give her a chance to talk privately. At home, she was always with Xu Shiming or Xu Di, or both. She went to Shen Muqing's school, intercepted her at the gate, and handed her a note before running away without looking back.

Shen Muqing unfolded the neatly folded note in the palm of her hand, revealing the vigorous and elegant handwriting of a young girl.

"Tomorrow, 5 PM, the usual place."

The signature was a single word: "Fei."

Shen Muqing looked at the disappearing figure around the corner, blinked her eyes slowly, and tears glistened on her long eyelashes. She tilted her face upward, suppressing the tears, and started walking towards home.

The next day, Han Zifei deliberately chose a light blue dress. She tied half of her shiny black hair while letting the other half naturally fall behind her. Shen Muqing liked how she dressed, saying it gave her a youthful vibe. She liked her youth, her energy, and her enthusiasm.

She had confessed her liking for her.

Han Zifei stood in front of the bedroom mirror, her eyes reddening. She hurriedly fanned herself with her hand, pulled the corners of her lips, clenched her fist, and cheered herself on. "Come on."

She had to bring her back.

Suddenly, Shen Muqing received notice that she had to attend a teaching seminar, and by the time it ended, it was already half-past five. She rushed out of the meeting room, adding another figure running on the street. She hurriedly made her way towards the riverside.

"Excuse me, please let me through." The usually composed woman lost her composure. Deep down, she had a faint feeling that this might be the last time they would meet.

Their usual place referred to a secluded spot by a small river, where there were no people. Han Zifei faced the river, her black hair swaying in the wind. The setting sun cast a slanted light, gradually elongating the shadows on the ground.

Han Zifei gazed into the golden sun on the horizon, memories flashing through her eyes. She slowly began to hear the sound of two people laughing heartily.

She had once held Shen Muqing's hand and sprinted towards the setting sun here.

She closed her eyes and faintly heard the woman's breathing. She couldn't help but lift the corners of her mouth, but her smile was filled with bitterness.

"Xiao Fei."

Han Zifei abruptly opened her eyes. The woman stood a few steps away from her, supporting her knees as she gasped for breath. The backlight made it hard to see her expression, but her voice remained gentle. "I'm sorry, I'm late."

Han Zifei rushed over and embraced her, releasing the anxiety and fear that had been pent up for so long. Her voice trembled as she spoke, "It's okay, as long as you're here."

Shen Muqing didn't return the embrace, she just stood in place with her hands hanging by her sides.

The young girl's heart went from warm to cold, and then cold again. There was a breeze by the river, chilling her embrace. Han Zifei found her hand and held it, rubbing her cold fingers. As if sensing something in the depths of her mind, her well-prepared words became a jumble, and she almost spoke incoherently, "Are you cold? I, I didn't consider it properly, we shouldn't have arranged to meet here. Maybe we should talk about it another time."

She looked around in confusion, her hands trembling, and said, "Let's... let's go home."

Shen Muqing said, "Xiao Fei."

Han Zifei, oblivious to the situation, grabbed her hand and pulled her back, stubbornly insisting, "Let's go home."

Shen Muqing raised her voice slightly, "Xiao Fei." At the same time, she pulled her hand back.

Han Zifei turned around, her eyes filled with pain. She said, "You..." She didn't finish her sentence, as tears silently streamed down her face. Choking back her sobs, she asked, "You decided not to divorce?"

Shen Muqing felt a pang in her chest and said, "Yes."

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of Han Zifei's lips. She asked, "What about your previous promise?"

Shen Muqing said, "I'm sorry."

"Do you think your apology is all I wanted?"

"I'm sorry." Shen Muqing lowered her head and bit her lip tightly.

"What difficulties do you have? Tell me, can't we face them together? Trust me, I can do anything for you."

Shen Muqing remained silent.

"Shen Muqing, look at me."

Shen Muqing raised her head.

Han Zifei wiped away the tears and gently caressed her cheek, earnestly gazing into her eyes. She said, "We promised to be together forever, did you forget?"

The pain in her chest grew stronger, and Shen Muqing stared directly into the determined gaze of the girl, almost wavering.

She had too many burdens on her shoulders. If she couldn't fulfill the promise of a lifetime together, she shouldn't burden her any longer. She still had a bright future ahead of her, and she didn't deserve to waste it on herself.

Shen Muqing steadied herself and finally spoke the words she had rehearsed countless times in her heart. With a cold smile, she said, "I don't remember."

Han Zifei was stunned, unable to believe what she heard.

"What... what did you say?" Her chest heaved violently, and her eyes welled up with tears.

"I don't remember."

"What about our vows and promises..."

"I said it casually, just for show." Shen Muqing cruelly smirked. "Did you actually believe it?"

"I don't believe it!"

"Believe it or not, it's up to you." Shen Muqing glanced at her watch. "It's already past six. I should go back and make dinner."

Han Zifei suddenly grabbed her wrist tightly and questioned her with determination, "If it was just a show, why are you still wearing the watch I gave you?" Her words got stuck in her throat as she noticed that the watch Shen Muqing was wearing was not the one she had given her.

She recoiled her hand as if it had been burned, took a step back, and shook her head, muttering to herself, "I don't believe it."

Shen Muqing said, "I did have an infatuation with you. Women are easily moved by someone who treats them well, and I'm no exception. I was lonely during the time Shiming was away, and you came along. Being with you had its benefits—I wouldn't get pregnant, and no one would suspect anything."

Those words stabbed Han Zifei in the heart, and tears immediately streamed down her face. She forcefully wiped them away with her hand, almost gritting her teeth as she said, "I told you I don't believe it."

"Then what do you want to hear?" Shen Muqing suddenly changed the topic.

Han Zifei tightened her lips.

Shen Muqing interjected, "What if I say I love you? What if I say I'll get a divorce and be with you forever? Would you believe it?"

"I believe it." Han Zifei said without hesitation.

Her attachment to this love had reached a stubborn level. As long as Shen Muqing said the words, she would go through fire and water, even if it meant jumping off a cliff immediately. She was willing to face anything.

The mocking curve froze on Shen Muqing's lips, and a hint of crack appeared in her calm expression.

Han Zifei grabbed her hand again and said, "Stay, stay by my side."

She took a step closer, hugged her tightly, pressed her lips against her ear, and trembled, "I'm begging you."

Shen Muqing's eyes were filled with immense and profound pain. She looked up at the darkening sky and softly said, "I'm pregnant."

The wind stopped.

A deathly silence.

A chill filled every fiber of Han Zifei's being.

She laughed, a mocking, cutting, and incredibly bitter laugh.

She stepped back, pointing her finger at her. Tears poured down like rain, but she couldn't utter a single word.

"You..." Han Zifei laughed and cried, repeating only this one word. After a long time, she asked softly, as if talking to herself, "Do you still have any feelings left?"

Shen Muqing's eyes reddened slightly. "I'm sorry."

Han Zifei's tears meandered as she asked softly, "Did you ever love me?"

Shen Muqing remained silent.

Han Zifei suddenly erupted, "Say something!"

Shen Muqing clenched her teeth tightly.

"Do you... Have you ever love me? Even just a little bit?" Han Zifei was on the verge of collapse, unable to speak through her tears.

Shen Muqing's eyes were bloodshot, and she bit her lower lip until it bled.

Han Zifei suddenly smiled through her tears. Her amber eyes glistened, washed clean by the tears, like morning dew, just like in the past.

She said, "Stop biting it, it hurts."

Shen Muqing clenched her teeth even tighter.

Han Zifei said hoarsely, "My heart hurts."

Her teeth loosened, tears clouded Shen Muqing's vision, and she couldn't see the expression on the girl's face clearly.

Han Zifei looked at her deeply, as if wanting to engrave the woman before her into the depths of her heart. Han Zifei's slender white fingertips brushed a strand of long hair from Shen Muqing's forehead and tucked it behind her ear.

Without saying goodbye, she turned and walked away.

She had planned out their entire future, but the person she had agreed upon changed her mind and couldn't come anymore.

Han Zifei couldn't help but burst into loud sobs.

How could she not come?
