CHAPTER 120: Wan & Shan's Side Story

After sending Wan Baiyun home, Qin Zhaoci stayed there for a while, making sure she didn't need further assistance before finally returning home.

It was already late when she arrived home, and Ye Lianyin had already fallen asleep. Qin Zhaoci quickly took a shower and carefully slipped into bed.

Just as she lay down, Ye Lianyin nestled into her embrace and nuzzling her shoulder, her voice slightly hoarse as she asked, "Why did you come back so late?"

Qin Zhaoci kissed Ye Lianyin's forehead and replied, "Wan Baiyun got drunk, so I took her home before coming back."

"Oh, then go to sleep." Ye Lianyin said, not wanting to delve into Wan Baiyun's situation. She hugged Qin Zhaoci's waist and continued to drift into a deep sleep.

Qin Zhaoci listened to Ye Lianyin's gentle breathing and couldn't help but worry, thinking about Wan Baiyun's condition and behavior tonight, making it difficult for her to fall asleep.

After staring at the ceiling for a while with her eyes open, Qin Zhaoci seemed to come up with an idea. Only then did she finally close her eyes and drift into sleep.

The next day, around noon, Wan Baiyun finally woke up from her hangover.

Her head was pounding, and in a daze, she got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower, which helped clear her mind a bit.

After taking a shower, Wan Baiyun drank a nutritional drink to settle her stomach and rubbed her temples, trying to stay awake.

At that moment, she received a message from Qin Zhaoci, inviting her to a place.

"Just went out for drinks yesterday, and now she wants to go somewhere again today?" Wan Baiyun's memories of last night's drunkenness were already becoming hazy. She vaguely remembered saying something to Qin Zhaoci, but she couldn't recall the specifics.

It was the first time Qin Zhaoci had invited her out so frequently since her amnesia, and coincidentally, Wan Baiyun had taken a long vacation. After considering for a moment, she picked up her car keys and headed out.

When she arrived at the destination, Wan Baiyun frowned, looking at the building in front of her with a hint of confusion.

Why did Qin Zhaoci invite her here?

Just as Wan Baiyun was contemplating, Qin Zhaoci approached and patted her shoulder. "Let's go, let's go inside."

Wan Baiyun shook her head. "Go inside? This is a psychological therapy hospital. What are we doing here? Do you know someone here who's undergoing therapy?"

Qin Zhaoci furrowed her brows. "Don't you remember what you said last night?"

"What did I say?" Wan Baiyun rubbed her temples. "I don't remember, I have a headache."

Qin Zhaoci pursed her lips. "Well, you basically told me about most of the psychological traumas you experienced in your childhood."

"Really?" Wan Baiyun furrowed her brow in disbelief. "What kind of drink did you give me? I've never told anyone about that before."

"It was just alcohol. What else could it be?" Qin Zhaoci rolled her eyes. "Maybe you were more trusting of me after getting drunk."

"Oh," Wan Baiyun blinked. "So you brought me here because of what I said to you last night?"

"Yes." Qin Zhaoci nodded. "I've already made an appointment with the best psychologist. Come on, I'll take you there."

Wan Baiyun grabbed Qin Zhaoci's arm and shook her head. "I don't want to go."

"Why?" Qin Zhaoci had come this morning, and she had indeed heard from the psychologist that many patients were reluctant to face their own issues. Thinking about Wan Baiyun's behavior over the years, Qin Zhaoci thought she might be one of those who didn't want to confront her problems.

Wan Baiyun looked away, trying her best not to look at the sign of the psychological hospital. "There's no specific reason. I just don't want to go."

With no compelling response, Wan Baiyun was about to turn around and leave.

As she walked away, Qin Zhaoci spoke loudly, "Do you still want to win back Shan Pan?"

Wan Baiyun halted in her tracks.

Qin Zhaoci continued, "Your psychological issues have always been there. If you don't confront them, you won't be able to resolve them. That way, you'll never be able to truly connect with Shan Pan. You'll continue to hurt her unintentionally. Even so, are you still unwilling to see a psychologist?"

Wan Baiyun closed her eyes, images of Shan Pan's indifferent face as she pushed her away flashed through her mind. She bit her lip hard, suppressing the pain and turmoil within her.

Suddenly, she turned around and faced Qin Zhaoci. "Who is the doctor?"

"Let's go, I've already made an appointment." Qin Zhaoci waved her hand. "Come upstairs with me."

Wan Baiyun clenched her fists tightly and followed Qin Zhaoci to meet the psychologist.

Once they reached the office, Dr. Liu indicated that he wanted to speak with Wan Baiyun alone, while Qin Zhaoci waited outside the therapy room.

Two hours later, Wan Baiyun emerged from the therapy room with red eyes. She looked at Qin Zhaoci in silence for a moment and said, "Thank you for bringing me here."

"We're friends, after all." Qin Zhaoci nodded. She was about to ask Wan Baiyun how the therapy session went when Dr. Liu opened the door and addressed her, "Ms. Qin, are you her legal guardian now?"

"Me?" Qin Zhaoci was taken aback, thinking about Wan Baiyun's grandmother and Shan Pan, who now ignored her. She considered the question seriously and asked, "Can a friend be a legal guardian?"

"If the patient agrees, then yes." Dr. Liu looked at Wan Baiyun.

Wan Baiyun nodded. "Right now, you're the only one looking after me."

"Very well." Qin Zhaoci nodded. "Dr. Liu, please update me on her condition from now on."

And so, Qin Zhaoci became Wan Baiyun's temporary legal guardian.

The psychological therapy process was lengthy. Dr. Liu informed her that Wan Baiyun's psychological issues couldn't be resolved quickly. Besides her own cooperation, the emotional support provided by those around her was also crucial.

Fortunately, Wan Baiyun had taken a three-month leave of absence. Apart from staying on the same floor as Shan Pan in the hospital every day, Wan Baiyun visited Dr. Liu on a regular basis, fully cooperating with her treatment.

As time passed, Shan Pan's belly grew larger and larger.

At eight months pregnant, Shan Pan would occasionally get out of bed and move around. But by the ninth month, she rarely left her hospital room, and Wan Baiyun could hardly see her in the corridor.

During the days leading up to her due date, Wan Baiyun stayed on the same floor as Shan Pan's room, sleeping on a chair in the corridor, silently waiting.

Finally, two days after the due date had passed, at midnight, Wan Baiyun suddenly heard some commotion coming from Shan Pan's room. Soon, doctors entered her room and began conducting examinations.

Within a short while, the entire Shan family arrived, including Shen Liangxi, who was four months pregnant herself.

Upon seeing Shen Liangxi, Shan Cong's mother looked at her with blame in her eyes. "Why did you bring Xi Xi here? She needs to rest properly now."

Before Shan Cong could explain, Shen Liangxi shook her head. "Pan Pan is about to give birth. How can I sleep peacefully? I had to come and see. Mom, don't blame Ah Cong. It was my insistence to come."

"Yes, Yes." Shan Cong quickly nodded, holding Shen Liangxi's hand and guiding her to a nearby chair. "If you feel tired later, let me know, and I'll take you to the resting room."

"Alright." Shen Liangxi patted Shan Cong's hand and glanced inside Shan Pan's room, asking, "How is Pan Pan doing now?"

Wan Baiyun, who was being blocked by the bodyguards nearby, strained her ears to listen to Shan Pan's mother's response.

Shan Pan's mother turned her head and glared fiercely at Wan Baiyun, who was ten meters away, before turning to Shen Liangxi and saying, "She has started having contractions, and the doctor is checking the dilation of her cervix."

"Oh," Shen Liangxi frowned with concern. "Pan Pan must be in a lot of pain. It's really worrying."

"Yes." Shan Pan's mother also expressed her worries. "She has never experienced any hardships since she was young, but now she's enduring all the pain."

After hearing this, Shen Liangxi turned her head and also glared at Wan Baiyun.

Wan Baiyun grabbed the arm of the bodyguard and continued to crane her neck to look inside.

After a while, the doctor conducting the examination came out and removed their mask. They said, "Contractions have started. Once her cervix dilates to three centimeters, we will administer epidural anesthesia. However, her cervix is dilating a bit slowly, so the pain might continue for a while."

Shan Pan's mother became even more anxious after hearing the update. She pushed open the door to the hospital room and heard the sound of Shan Pan's pain.

Upon hearing that sound, Shan Pan's mother's eyes reddened with heartache. She walked over, sat down by the bedside, and held Shan Pan's hand, comforting her, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. Mom is here. Endure it a little longer, and we will become mothers together, Pan Pan!"

"Yeah." Shan Pan endured the intermittent contractions and felt a sense of relief as more family members entered the room.

"Second sister-in-law, why are you here too? You should be resting at home." Shan Pan said, noticing Shen Liangxi by Shan Cong's side, feeling somewhat concerned.

Shen Liangxi shook her head. "It's okay. I know my own condition well, and I'm not experiencing any major discomfort. I'll be fine."

Shen Liangxi lowered her head, gently touching her slightly protruding belly with a tender look. "This baby is very well-behaved."

After hearing Shen Liangxi's words, Shan Pan's worries eased slightly. However, her eyes unconsciously glanced towards the entrance of the hospital room, and a hint of disappointment flashed through her gaze when she didn't see anyone else coming in.

Shen Liangxi noticed this trace of disappointment and, after leaving the room with Wan Baiyun, turned to look in the direction of Shan Pan. She held Shan Cong's hand and said, "Let Wan Baiyun stay and watch over Pan Pan."

"What?" Shan Cong furrowed her brow. "No way. That rotten person, how can we let her in when she's caused Pan Pan so much suffering?"

Shen Liangxi glared at her. "During an Omega's labor, the presence of their Alpha partner's pheromones provides comfort and alleviates the pain to some extent. The delivery process will also be smoother. Besides, you still don't understand Pan Pan well. Although she doesn't say it, deep down, she hopes for the presence of the baby's mother."

"And for the baby, it would be meaningful to have both mothers welcoming her into this world."

"Fine." Shan Cong pondered for a moment. "But we can't let her in so easily."

"What do you suggest?" Shen Liangxi raised an eyebrow.

Shan Cong smiled, holding Shen Liangxi's hand and spoke in a voice that was neither loud nor soft, "What should we do? Our Pan Pan is so pitiful. She has always been afraid of pain, and now she's in tears from the pain. It breaks my heart. How can she endure it later when she gives birth?"

There was only one patient on this floor, Shan Pan. The corridor was quiet, and Wan Baiyun heard every word clearly, causing her fist to tighten instantly.

  1. While I can understand to some extent the family's reaction towards Wan Baiyun, they still make me sick because they never considered why Wan Baiyun acts the way she does and only see her as "rotten" while their own "precious" daughter raped another person. Maybe I just don't know enough about ABO world's but in this novel it is just feels like a tool to write a gl instead of a straight story.
The idea with the psychologist is a great idea, that I totally forgot but it is by far not enough and a lot of people need to excuse themselves by Wan Baiyun.
