CHAPTER 14
Li Jia couldn't quite describe the feeling she had when she heard Ye Chengxing's words. She just felt that after Ye Chengxing spoke, the almost imperceptible scent of alpha pheromones in the air became more apparent.
No, perhaps it wasn't that the alpha's pheromones became more apparent, but rather, she involuntarily sought out that faint scent of oolong tea.
Li Jia lowered her eyelashes slightly, feeling like she might be falling ill again. Otherwise, why would her heartbeat suddenly accelerate? Most likely, it was due to anxiety and tightness in her chest.
She recalled what Ye Chengxing had just said.
Adding the letter 'A' would allow her to see her name first?
It was just a note, but the person in front of her seemed to give it a special and unique meaning. It even made her feel, in a daze, that she was being cared for and cherished by someone.
She realized that this Ye Chengxing was indeed different from the Ye Chengxing of her past life. At least, she didn't feel so many unfamiliar and complex emotions from the Ye Chengxing of her past life.
For the Ye Chengxing of her past life, she only felt disgust and aversion in her heart.
Li Jia curled her fingertips and lightly touched the gauze wrapped around her palm.
Her heartbeat was racing uncontrollably, and this time, the illness she was experiencing felt subtly different from before. She couldn't help but raise her hand and press it against her chest.
The words Ye Chengxing had just said didn't carry any special meaning. She simply spoke her thoughts directly in response to Li Jia's question.
Adding a letter 'A' to put Li Jia in the first position, how convenient. Opening the contacts page, the first thing she would see would be Li Jia.
Ye Chengxing looked at the saved contact on her phone, dialed the number once, and then hung up. Holding the phone, she looked at Li Jia with a charming smile, "I just called you on your phone. Don't forget to save my number too."
Li Jia looked into Ye Chengxing's curved eyes and felt that the sensation of falling ill seemed even stronger.
The Omega applied a slight pressure to her chest with her hand.
Ye Chengxing keenly noticed this and put her phone back in her pocket. "Is your body still feeling a bit uncomfortable? Let me help you upstairs to rest. Maybe lying in bed for a while will make you feel better."
Li Jia pursed her lips, about to say "No need for help," but when she met Ye Chengxing's concerned and nervous gaze, the words she had intended to speak took a turn and transformed into something else.
"I am feeling a bit uncomfortable..." She paused for a moment and then tentatively continued, "And my hand hurts too."
Sometimes, when pain is endured alone for a long time, one stops speaking about it because they know no one cares, so there's no need to.
Ye Chengxing, feeling guilty and pained upon hearing Li Jia's words, said, "Then let's go upstairs quickly."
Li Jia sensed the emotions underlying her words, just as she had hoped.
In the past, her heart was filled with violence and bloodshed. After all, only in that state could she maintain a pleasant mood and temporarily forget the nightmares and pain.
But now, it seems that she had found something that brings her even more joy.
When Ye Chengxing helped Li Jia upstairs, it was just a simple act of assistance, without any inappropriate intentions, and her movements were extremely careful.
In the interval of going upstairs, Li Jia raised her gaze and looked at Ye Chengxing's profile.
She thought that if this Ye Chengxing could continue to be like this, then it wouldn't matter even if she eventually discovered some ulterior motives. She would be willing to give something in exchange for this sense of cherished concern.
Even if it was fake, it didn't matter.
......
After helping Li Jia upstairs, Ye Chengxing poured a glass of warm water.
"I have to go out for a while. Maybe you shouldn't attend classes this afternoon, take a rest instead." She placed the glass of warm water by Li Jia's bedside and proposed the idea.
Upon hearing Ye Chengxing's words, Li Jia raised her eyes and looked at Ye Chengxing, a fragile smile forming on her lips. With the gauze wrapped around her palm, she looked particularly pitiful. "Sister, it's okay. Although it might be a bit difficult to write, I can still listen to the lessons."
The long eyelashes of the Omega drooped slightly, casting a shadow on her cheek.
"It's alright. Rest well if your body is not feeling well. You can study after you're well-rested," Ye Chengxing hesitated for a moment and continued, "I'll give you the contact information of the private tutor. If you really want to attend classes, you can contact her. But don't force yourself if you're not feeling well."
"Okay." Li Jia obediently agreed.
Ye Chengxing couldn't help but feel distressed by how pitiful the villainess was. She was entirely like a little helpless creature.
And because of this, the more she thought about those scumbags, the more she found them detestable.
She glanced at the time and realized it was almost time. After all, she herself didn't come back early in the afternoon, and after a few words of advice to Li Jia, she hurriedly left.
Li Jia watched the Alpha's departing figure thoughtfully, recalling that Ye Chengxing had already gone out once today. Ye Chengxing seemed busy the whole day, with a heavy look of contemplation on her brow, as if she was dealing with something important.
Once she realized her thoughts had drifted to "What is Ye Chengxing doing," Li Jia's expression subtly changed.
Forget it, what does Ye Chengxing's actions have to do with her anyway.
......
The heavy rain from before came and went quickly. After the rain, the sky was clear and the air was fresh and moist.
The assistant was indeed very efficient in handling tasks.
Time waits for no one, and Ye Chengxing thought that since the lawyer had already scheduled an early consultation, they should start preparing as soon as possible.
Ever since the unsuccessful attempt to investigate Lin Que's actions behind the scenes, she had a feeling that it would be difficult to win the lawsuit.
But no matter how difficult it was, she had to give it a try.
Li Jia's life should not be like this.
She didn't know why the system had chosen her out among so many people, but perhaps some things are destined to happen. Since she was here, she would do her best to let sunlight shine and dispel the darkness.
