CHAPTER 6
More than ten minutes ago.
The usually quiet Little chubby bird suddenly flapped its wings and flew up. It was so angry that its whole body trembled, muttering curses.
Yunmiao was startled by its behavior and asked with curious eyes, "Guan Guan, what's wrong?"
Little chubby bird glanced at her and said, "I found the IP addresses of those internet trolls."
"Wow!" Yunmiao applauded, "Guan Guan, you're amazing!"
Faced with such straightforward and sincere praise, Little chubby bird almost forgot to breathe. It blushed and humbly said, "It's nothing, really."
In the next moment, it regained its focus and said, "There are two trolls leaders nearby. I suspect they are blending in with the crowd of visitors, probably preparing to take photos of the Emperor and post them on the Star Network to stir up public opinion!"
Yunmiao puffed her cheeks and asked, "Is the Emperor in danger?"
"Not really." Little chubby bird flapped its wings, "The Emperor is very powerful and wouldn't bother with these pests. They're just annoying at most."
Yunmiao nodded, somewhat understanding.
Little chubby bird continued to monitor the online trends and couldn't sit still after a while. "No! I can't stand it if the Emperor doesn't care about them!"
She instructed Yunmiao, "Those two people are on the next street. I'll go and expose them! You stay here and wait for Yanyan to come out, okay?"
Yunmiao jumped off the chair and shook her head, saying, "I want to go with you!"
Little chubby bird refused, "The Emperor's parade location is nearby, and there are many people here now. How can a little child like you run around recklessly?"
Yunmiao looked at it and blurted out, "But don't I still have you? If I have Guan Guan with me, then it won't be considered running around!"
In the little girl's logic, as long as Mommy let Guan Guan watch over her, it meant that as long as she followed Guan Guan, there wouldn't be any problems.
These two sentences filled Guan Guan's head with a strong sense of trust.
Moreover, it seemed like the two targeted trolls leaders were preparing to move away. Little chubby bird couldn't manage everything, so it nodded and said, "Fine, hmph, with this divine bird protecting you, nothing can happen to you anyway. But you have to promise me that you'll stick close to me."
Yunmiao nodded vigorously.
She tightly held onto her small cloth bag, smiled with squinted eyes, and shouted with a tone as if they were going on an outing, "Let's go!"
And so, the two little troublemakers embarked on their journey to apprehend the culprits.
But the situation was far more complicated than they had imagined.
The two trolls leaders had indeed come to the scene to take photos. At this moment, the Emperor's convoy was preparing to pass through Changfeng Street, and the two leaders were constantly adjusting their positions, aiming to capture the female Emperor as a true demon.
If it were only Little chubby bird, it would have been manageable, but Yunmiao was a little one who didn't even need to buy a ticket to ride the bus. Little chubby bird could only slow down and lead her forward step by step. Fortunately, Yunmiao was very determined, and even though her face turned red from running, she never complained about being tired.
After twenty minutes, they arrived at the most crowded place in the crowd.
Rows of guards stood on both sides of the road, preventing the excited onlookers from getting too close. Everyone was tightly packed together, waiting for the Emperor's vehicle to pass through this area, eager to witness the female Emperor's magnificence with their own eyes. The two trolls leaders had squeezed their way to the front of the crowd, and Yunmiao could only leverage her petite stature to navigate through the people.
She was incredibly cute and had a determined spirit that urged her to move forward. Gradually, many people started to notice her.
Although it was strange that such a young child didn't have a guardian with her, seeing Little chubby bird, the bionic robotic bird, people didn't have too many concerns. Instead, they were considerate and made some space for her, hoping that the little girl could stand at the front and watch the procession of vehicles.
As Yunmiao thanked the crowd and squeezed forward, she finally bumped her head into the leg of a guard.
The guard was taken aback and quickly supported her, asking, "...Little girl, why are you here alone? Where are your parents?"
Yunmiao struggled to look up at him and said, "Uncle, I'm here to catch the bad guys!"
The guard chuckled at her words, not taking them too seriously, and simply reminded her, "The Emperor's car will be coming soon. Stay here and don't run onto the road, okay?"
Yunmiao obediently nodded.
She looked up and saw Little chubby bird hovering over the heads of two middle-aged men nearby, clearly targeting the enemies. She began to move in that direction.
Not far away.
Inside the open-top hover car, Chu Yu remained expressionless, accepting the cheers from the crowd on both sides. In her hidden earpiece, Xiao Yun's reminders kept coming, "Emperor, smile a little and make some eye contact with the onlookers."
Chu Yu: "I'm wearing a mechanical mask, so no one can see me smile."
Xiaoyun argued logically, "It's about the eye contact! The expression in your eyes when you smile is different!"
Chu Yu replied, "A fake smile won't change the look in my eyes."
Xiaoyun became frustrated, "Throughout our journey, there have been intentional photos taken of you with a stern expression! They've already portrayed you as a ruthless ruler! But the photos taken by our arranged photographers so far haven't turned out well for publicity. Just give the people below a chance! You don't have to fake a smile, but soften your gaze a little."
Chu Yu pondered for a moment.
She was not someone who couldn't listen to advice, and now she began to make an effort to relax a bit. However, just then, she caught a glimpse of two men with sophisticated camera equipment standing tens of meters ahead, pointing directly at her. Recalling Xiao Yun's words, Chu Yu instinctively furrowed her brows.
"Oh my goodness! I captured an amazing photo, and we won't even need any post-processing!" one of the men exclaimed in excitement.
His companion immediately rushed over, asking, "What's it like? Let me see!"
The man showed it to his companion, saying, "Look! She actually furrowed her brows! With that metallic mask shimmering on her face, she looks more like a machine than a bionic robot."
His companion nodded repeatedly, "Quick, post it directly on the Star Network and come up with a caption! Let me think... You write, 'No more peace! The bloody shadow cast by the City Slaughterer shrouds the capital of the Empire.'"
The man swiftly operated his device, praising, "Great! We must make the netizens believe that the Emperor treats them the same way she treats enemies!"
He quickly edited the caption and posted it, and as expected, the news immediately garnered a lot of attention. Watching the rapidly increasing number of likes and comments, the man couldn't contain his joy.
Suddenly, he felt someone tugging on his pants.
He looked down and found himself face-to-face with a stern-looking little girl.
For some reason, the man felt like he had seen her somewhere before.
The next moment, the little girl spoke, "Uncle, you shouldn't do bad things!"
Confused, the man replied, "Where did this little brat come from? Go find your parents!"
Yunmiao didn't let go and said, "I heard everything! You're intentionally causing trouble!"
Little chubby bird descended from the sky, saying, "You scoundrels, I've recorded that segment just now. Intentionally defaming the Emperor's image is a violation of imperial law. You better surrender immediately!"
The man grew panicked and stammered, "I-I have no idea what you're talking about! I didn't do anything!"
Little chubby bird flapped its wings and said, "Ha, you can argue with me at the police station!"
A guard responsible for maintaining order nearby had noticed the commotion and furrowed his brows. He said, "What's going on here? Hey, you, hand over your camera for inspection!"
The man and his companion exchanged glances and simultaneously prepared to make their escape.
But as the man took a step, he realized that Yunmiao was still holding onto him and hadn't let go. Seeing his companion successfully blend into the crowd and escape, the man shouted at Yunmiao, "Let go quickly!"
Yunmiao shook her head and said, "Uncle, you can't run away!"
The guard hesitated to intervene, and Little chubby bird was bound by the rules that prevented it from physically engaging with humans. They could only watch helplessly. In this critical moment, only three-year-old Yunmiao was facing off against the man.
But how could she be a match for an adult man?
The man grew more frantic, with only one thought in mind—to get away from the scene immediately. Overwhelmed by fear and adrenaline, he kicked out without any restraint. Yunmiao was completely unprepared for such force and was sent rolling into the center of the street.
At that moment, the vehicle carrying the Emperor had arrived in front of her!
Although the vehicles had intentionally slowed down during the parade, the proximity was too close for anyone to anticipate such an accident. The driver of the first vehicle reacted a beat too late, and when he snapped back to attention, he slammed on the brakes in a panic. The terrified expression on his face spoke volumes about the urgency of the situation.
The surrounding crowd began to scream, and everyone's minds seemed to conjure up the gruesome image of the little girl being crushed. But suddenly, a blur flashed before their eyes. The next moment, the little girl, who had been lying on the ground, disappeared into thin air.
The screams of the crowd were abruptly silenced, caught in their throats. Everyone looked around in panic, trying to find any trace.
Soon, they discovered that the Emperor, who had been sitting in the car, was now holding a little girl with her face covered, her eyes tightly shut, in her arms.
Xiao Yun reacted quickly, instructing people to investigate while anxiously approaching the now stationary vehicle.
The young female Emperor didn't like interacting with outsiders, and this major mistake forced her to intervene and save someone, which would undoubtedly affect the Emperor's mood.
Just the thought of it made Xiao Yun feel a bit short of breath.
Xiao Yun quickened her pace and soon arrived by the Emperor's side. She immediately reached out her hand, intending to take Yunmiao from Chu Yu's arms. "Emperor, give the child to me."
She had thought that the Emperor would be eager to pass on this trouble, but to her surprise, Chu Yu didn't even spare her a glance. She only lowered her head and looked at the little girl in her arms. "Are you hurt?"
Yunmiao finally regained her senses.
She met Chu Yu's eyes, and after a few seconds, a joyful smile appeared on her face. "Big sister?"
Chu Yu didn't expect that the little girl would still remember her, and a sense of inexplicable joy welled up in her heart.
She asked again, "Are you hurt?"
Yunmiao pouted. "My butt hurts a little!"
This wasn't a serious problem, so Chu Yu felt slightly relieved. She scanned the nearby crowd but didn't see any familiar figures. She asked again, "Where are your parents?"
Yunmiao replied, "Mommy is in the house."
Chu Yu furrowed her brows in confusion, but fortunately, Little chubby bird was nearby and explained, "Um... Yunmiao's mommy is at the neighboring employment agency, not here."
Chu Yu glanced coldly at Little chubby bird. "Did you bring her out?"
Little chubby bird belatedly realized its mistake and wished it could bury its face under its wings.
But its crisis was quickly resolved.
Yunmiao curiously touched Chu Yu's mechanical mask and asked, "Big sister, why do you always wear this mask? Yunmiao can't see your face!"
Xiao Yun's alarm bells rang loudly in her mind!
She raised her arm once again and said, "Emperor, hand the child over to me. I will immediately have someone contact the child's parents."
Chu Yu turned to look at her but did not respond.
She sat down in the car, holding Yunmiao, and gave instructions. "Let's continue. When we find the child's mother, bring her to the palace."
Xiao Yun acknowledged with a "yes" and stumbled off the car, directing the convoy to continue moving forward.
After a while, she suddenly woke up and trembled as she opened the intercom.
"Emperor, Emperor... When you saved the child just now, did you get hit on the head by the car?"
"Get lost!" Chu Yu coldly spat out a word and raised her hand to turn off the earpiece.
