CHAPTER 96
After Shan Pan was pushed inside, Wan Baiyun only noticed that her pants were soaked in blood, causing a chill to run through her body. She wanted to follow her into the emergency room but was stopped by the closed door.
"You little brat! I told you to answer my call, I told you to answer my call!" Wan Shiying angrily hit the back of Wan Baiyun's head three times, her hand trembling with anger. "If anything happens to Pan Pan, I'll kill you."
"I understand, I understand." Wan Baiyun furrowed her brow, her eyes turning red, and she tightly stared at the emergency room. The hand in front of her involuntarily trembled.
Half an hour later, Qin Zhaoci and Ye Lianyin also arrived at the hospital.
After another three hours, the lights in the emergency room finally went out, and the female doctor who had taken Shan Pan inside came out, even before she could remove her mask.
Wan Baiyun quickly stepped forward, grabbing the doctor's shoulder anxiously and asking, "How is she? How is she?"
The doctor was dizzy from Wan Baiyun shaking her and forcefully pushed her hand away, removing her own mask.
"Second... Second sister-in-law." Wan Baiyun looked at the familiar face in front of her and slowly withdrew her hand.
Shen Liangxi glared at Wan Baiyun, thinking of Shan Pan's pale face earlier, and said coldly, "Both the mother and the child are safe, but she will have to stay in the hospital until she gives birth. Don't you know that pregnant omegas require the soothing of their partner's pheromones?"
"Why didn't you stay by her side more? A pregnant Omega like her are at high risk, and you didn't know?"
"Lack of pheromone soothing." Wan Baiyun furrowed her brow, thinking about how Shan Pan couldn't bear it anymore and came to see Shen Liangxi. It was only then that she realized that her secret comforting with pheromones at night wasn't enough.
Ye Lianyin, who was standing on the side, heard Shen Liangxi speak so much for the first time and understood that the situation must be serious. She lifted her foot and kicked Wan Baiyun's shin.
She was used to kicking Qin Zhaoci and knew exactly where to kick to cause the most pain. Wan Baiyun immediately jumped in pain, clutching the spot that was kicked.
Qin Zhaoci silently moved in front of Ye Lianyin, shielding her behind herself.
After enduring the pain, Wan Baiyun looked in their direction and saw Ye Lianyin being protected by Qin Zhaoci. Her leg hurt even more.
"Serves you right! Good kick, Yinyin!" Wan Shiying clapped her hands. "Dr. Shen, where will Shan Pan be taken next?"
"The obstetrics ward." Shen Liangxi pointed to the emergency room. "You can follow that stretcher there."
As soon as Shen Liangxi finished speaking, the nurses pushed the still unconscious Shan Pan out. Wan Baiyun quickly ran over, grabbed her hand, and looked at her pale face. She gently touched it with a heart full of pain.
Ye Lianyin, accompanied by Qin Zhaoci, hurriedly followed.
On the way, Qin Zhaoci was curious, "Who was that just now, and why does Wan Baiyun call her second sister-in-law?"
"She is Shan Pan's elder sister and the wife of Shan Cong, Shen Liangxi. She is an obstetrician at the military hospital. I'm not sure when she was transferred here, but she used to work at a hospital under the Shan family." Ye Lianyin explained.
"She didn't look too good." Qin Zhaoci recalled Shen Liangxi's expression before leaving.
Ye Lianyin glared at her and grabbed Qin Zhaoci's ear. "In such an urgent situation, you're still concerned about whether her face looks good or not? Qin Zhaoci, do you find her attractive?"
"No, no." Qin Zhaoci quickly denied. There was no way she would admit that Shen Liangxi was indeed beautiful. She couldn't help but take a few more glances, though. "I just, I just casually glanced at her. She's pretty, but not as beautiful as my wife. You're the most beautiful."
Ye Lianyin glared at her, huffed, and refused to pay any attention to her.
Qin Zhaoci quickly caught up with her to coax her.
After Qin Zhaoci and the others went up, Shen Liangxi walked over to a nearby chair and sat down, feeling a bit drained. She closed her eyes, calming the dizziness in her mind before activating her optical brain. After hesitating for a moment, she made a call to Shan Cong.
As she listened to the beeping sound in her optical brain, a memory flashed through Shen Liangxi's mind—the hurt in Shan Cong's eyes when she angrily mentioned divorce a month ago.
"Hello." a familiar female voice answered the call.
Shen Liangxi remained silent for a moment before speaking, "Something happened to Pan Pan. She's currently at the military hospital. Please inform Mom and Dad, and also ask Big Brother and his wife to come over quickly."
"What?" The initially indifferent voice sounded panicked. "Alright, we'll come right away."
"Okay." Shen Liangxi hung up the phone and closed her eyes, leaning against the wall behind her.
"Dr. Shen, are you okay?" a young nurse approached, looking worriedly at Shen Liangxi. "Your complexion hasn't been good these past few days. Are you feeling unwell?"
"I'm fine, just a bit of low blood sugar. I'm waiting for the patient's family to arrive. You can go and rest." Shen Liangxi waved her hand dismissively.
"Okay," the nurse nodded, still somewhat concerned, but she turned and left.
Half an hour later, Shan Yuan, Shan Cong, Shan's mother, and Shan's father rushed over.
Shan Cong still had her white coat on, clearly not having had the chance to take it off.
"Xixi, where is Pan Pan?" Shan's mother grabbed Shen Liangxi's hand, anxiously asking.
"Mom, Dad, come with me." Shen Liangxi reassured them as she patted their hands. She glanced at Shan Cong, who shared the same worry, then turned and led them to Shan Pan's ward.
At the entrance of the ward, Qin Zhaoci, Ye Lianyin, and Wan Shiying were waiting outside, while Wan Baiyun was alone inside the ward, accompanying Shan Pan.
Shan Pan was still unconscious, her face pale and alarming. Wan Baiyun gently stroked her hair, her eyes filled with distress.
"It's best not to have too many people going in." Shen Liangxi glanced at everyone. "It will disturb the patient's rest."
Wan Shiying looked at Shan's parents with a guilty expression. "I'm sorry, it's my fault for not taking good care of Pan Pan."
Shan's mother didn't blame Wan Shiying and turned to Shen Liangxi, asking, "What happened to Pan Pan?"
Shen Liangxi frowned. "It's a condition caused by the lack of comforting pheromones from a partner during the early stage of pregnancy, combined with significant emotional fluctuations. We've managed to stabilize the pregnancy, but she'll need to stay in the hospital for the next two months. Wan Baiyun will have to supplement her with pheromones daily, or else there will be risks during childbirth."
After hearing this, Shan Cong's expression turned cold as she looked at Wan Baiyun inside the ward.
Shan's mother and father wore equally grim expressions.
After a moment of silence, Shan's father spoke first. "We'll transfer Pan Pan to our own hospital to take care of her."
"As for Wan Baiyun, let her figure it out on her own!"
Although Shan's father knew that Pan Pan had one-sided feelings for Wan Baiyun, he didn't want to see his child risking her life for her, and his expression turned icy.
Wan Shiying didn't speak up for Wan Baiyun either and looked at Pan Pan in the ward, silently accepting the decision.
"Shan Cong," Shen Liangxi approached and gently grabbed Shan Cong's hand.
Shan Cong glanced at her, her face cold, and she pulled her hand away, and remained silent, pursing her lips.
Shan's mother also noticed the tension between the two and coughed lightly before asking, "When did you transfer to this hospital, Xixi?"
"Last month." Shan Cong answered before Shen Liangxi could speak.
Compared to Pan Pan, who inherited her mother's adorable face, Shan Cong was a perfect blend of her parents' features. She had a handsome and beautiful appearance, representing a typical stunning style.
Compared to Shen Liangxi's cool and aloof demeanor, Shan Cong's presence was even more powerful when she spoke with a stern face.
Qin Zhaoci, who was eavesdropping nearby, began whispering to Ye Lianyin, "Pan Pan's sister has a completely different style in terms of looks."
Ye Lianyin playfully reached out and pinched Qin Zhaoci's flesh. "Why are you so concerned about someone else's appearance?"
Qin Zhaoci winced in pain and smiled, "Oh, come on, doesn't everyone love to look at beautiful women?"
Ye Lianyin was speechless and gave her a cold stare.
Qin Zhaoci grinned and leaned her body against Ye Lianyin, resting her head on her shoulder, trying to appease her and prevent her from getting angry.
"Why did you suddenly transfer here?" Shan's father expressed his confusion. "Is the treatment at our family's hospital not good enough?"
Shen Liangxi looked embarrassed and shook her head. "No, it's just that I wanted to change my work environment."
"Heh," Shan Cong suddenly snorted disdainfully, clearly telling everyone that it wasn't the case at all.
Seeing Shan Cong's reaction, Shan's mother sighed inwardly, wondering why all their children seemed to be destined to love and not be loved in return.
Just when the eldest child's relationship stabilized, the youngest encountered trouble, and now the second child was having a disagreement. As parents, they couldn't help but worry about their children's emotions.
Shen Liangxi also noticed Shan's mother's concerns and reached out to hold Shan Cong's hand, exerting a bit more force this time.
Shan Cong tried to break free, but when she realized that Shen Liangxi was holding on tightly, she gave up.
"Mom, I need to talk to Shan Cong. Let's go to my office for a moment." Shen Liangxi said.
After Shan's mother nodded, Shen Liangxi led Shan Cong, who was pretending to resist, to her office.
Once inside the office, Shen Liangxi locked the door and leaned against it, silently looking at Shan Cong in front of her.
Shan Cong lowered her head and met her gaze. After a moment of silence, she said, "When are we going to handle the paperwork?"
"What paperwork?" Shen Liangxi rubbed her temples and walked over to the chair in front of her desk, pretending not to understand.
Shan Cong glanced at her coldly, pursing her lips. "Divorce proceedings, isn't that what you wanted? Don't you want to distance yourself from me? Fine, I'll make it happen."
As Shan Cong spoke those words, even her cold facade couldn't hold up. Her voice choked up, "Anyway, all these years have been my one-sided wishful thinking. I'll grant you your wish now."
Shen Liangxi looked up at Shan Cong, whose eyes were already red, and reached out to grab her hand, pulling her down to sit. She sighed, "No divorce, no divorce. What I said last month was just in anger. It shouldn't be taken seriously."
Shan Cong looked at her with red eyes, pursing her lips in silence.
Shen Liangxi knew that her words last month had truly hurt Shan Cong. She leaned in and gently kissed her lips, saying, "I'm sorry."
After the kiss, Shen Liangxi suddenly felt her vision darken, and a nauseous feeling overwhelmed her chest.
Feeling unwell, she grabbed onto Shan Cong's clothes and rested her head on her chest, taking a gentle breath.
"What's wrong?" Shan Cong had actually noticed that Shen Liangxi didn't look well since earlier, but because they were having a disagreement, she had held back from asking. Now, sensing the fluctuation of her pheromones, she immediately asked.
"Let me smell your pheromones." Shen Liangxi said, closing her eyes. She tore off her own pheromone blocker and then fumbled to remove the blocker from Shan Cong's neck. "Hurry."
Shan Cong pursed her lips and silently released her pheromones, allowing them to intertwine with Shen Liangxi's.
However, this time, when she smelled Shen Liangxi's pheromones, she felt that it was somewhat different from before. The floral scent seemed to be more intense.
A thought flashed through Shan Cong's mind, but before she could ask, Shen Liangxi pushed her away and bent down towards the trash can, unable to hold back and retched twice.
"You..." Shan Cong's eyes widened, with a hint of anticipation in her gaze.
Shen Liangxi took a breath and continued leaning against Shan Cong's embrace. She calmed herself and said, "I might need to take a few months of leave."
.....
When Shen Liangxi and Shan Cong appeared again, Shen Liangxi's complexion had improved significantly, and Shan Cong's face was no longer cold. She held Shen Liangxi's hand with a smile in her eyes.
Shan's mother, seeing the two reconciled, also breathed a sigh of relief and began to focus on the inside, where Shan Pan was.
"Oh, they suddenly made up." Qin Zhaoci, a curious onlooker, whispered to Ye Lianyin.
Ye Lianyin gave her a glance and said, "Don't forget why we came here today."
Qin Zhaoci smiled and leaned her head against Ye Lianyin's face. "Hmm, got it."
"Why did Ye Lianyin come too?" Shan's mother, unable to disturb Shan Pan inside, sat down on a nearby resting chair and turned to ask Ye Lianyin.
Ye Lianyin and Qin Zhaoci exchanged a glance, not wanting to hide anything. Ye Lianyin said directly, "Grandma Wan couldn't reach Wan Baiyun, so she called Qin Zhaoci, and she brought me along."
"Is that so?" Shan's father's face turned colder.
Seeing the reaction of the Shan family, Qin Zhaoci understood that Wan Baiyun might have a difficult time ahead.
An hour later, Shan Pan's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Looking at the white ceiling in front of her, Shan Pan realized she was in the hospital. She immediately raised her hand and touched her belly.
Phew, the baby was still there. Shan Pan breathed a sigh of relief and then looked to the side.
"You're awake." Wan Baiyun, who was by Shan Pan's side, widened her eyes and reached out to touch Shan Pan's face, asking with a worried expression, "Are you feeling any discomfort? Does your stomach still hurt?"
Shan Pan's face was pale, and she was feeling weak. She shook her head.
"Do you want some water?" Wan Baiyun looked at Shan Pan's dry lips and quickly poured a glass of water. After making sure the temperature was suitable, she inserted a straw and brought it to Shan Pan's lips.
Shan Pan was really thirsty and quickly gulped down all the water from the cup.
"Do you want more?" Wan Baiyun looked at Shan Pan.
Shan Pan shook her head, closed her eyes, and after a moment of silence, she asked, "Have my parents arrived?"
Wan Baiyun was taken aback by Shan Pan's reaction and felt a bit flustered. She instinctively looked towards the door and nodded, "Yes, they have. Do you want to see them?"
"Yes, please. Could you bring them in for me?" Shan Pan nodded, keeping her eyes closed and not looking at Wan Baiyun.
Author's Note:
The reasons behind Wan Baiyun's personality will be explained in detail in the extra chapters. Her character is designed to have some flawed, and her words were meant to vent her frustration towards her grandmother. She didn't expect Shan Pan to hear them. Her grandmother is quite problematic, and that will be addressed in the extra chapters.
