CHAPTER 126: Wan & Shan's Side Story [Ending]
"It's Commander Wan who is deceiving her self." Zhou Qifeng said, looking at Wan Shiying with a gaze filled with pity and helplessness. As he spoke, he walked to her desk, opened a drawer, and took out a letter. "This is the farewell letter she wrote before she went on a mission. She said it was for me, not for you to see."
"Now that you don't believe me, you can see for yourself what she wrote."
Wan Shiying looked at the letter in Zhou Qifeng's hand, and her hand trembled slightly as she took it.
After opening it, she read through it.
After reading it, Wan Shiying's hand holding the letter trembled involuntarily.
Zhou Qifeng looked at her and said, "Wan Xue said she didn't have the courage to defy you because you raised her. She loved you and respected you."
"But she didn't want her child to end up like her. When Wan Baiyun came to me, I was happy because she didn't end up like her mother, ultimately not fulfilling any of her wishes. She rebelled against you, so I chose to help her."
"Commander Wan, let go. You really need to learn to let go. Everyone is an independent individual with the right to decide the kind of life they want."
Wan Shiying's hand trembled as she placed the letter on the table. Her face turned gray, and she swayed her body, not responding to Zhou Qifeng's words. It was as if all the strength had been drained from her body, and she slowly turned and walked away.
Seeing Wan Shiying's expression, Zhou Qifeng shook his head. Compared to Wan Baiyun, Wan Shiying truly loved Wan Xue. Perhaps even Wan Xue herself didn't anticipate that her lack of courage to resist back then would result in her daughter experiencing such a suppressed and helpless childhood.
After arriving on the Snowshelter planet, Wan Baiyun rented a house and began preparing for the entrance exams with full dedication.
Shan Pan also helped her with the application materials and sent them to her, silently waiting for news from her end.
While Wan Baiyun was studying, she didn't forget to continue writing letters to Shan Pan. However, instead of sending physical letters like before, Wan Baiyun now chose to take photos of her handwritten letters and send them to Shan Pan.
Compared to before, Shan Pan would occasionally reply to Wan Baiyun's messages, and she sincerely read all the letters Wan Baiyun sent to her.
Six months later, Wan Baiyun successfully received the admission letter from the Snowshelter Empire Academy.
On the day she received the letter, Wan Baiyun made a rare phone call to Shan Pan.
"Hello, what's up?" They both understood each other well and didn't initiate a video call.
"Pan Pan, I got accepted! Fashion design major. I'll be starting next month." Wan Baiyun's tone was filled with joy. "After all these years, I can finally do what I love. Thank you, Pan Pan."
"Really?" Shan Pan's voice rose slightly as a smile tugged at the corner of her lips. She couldn't help but feel happy for Wan Baiyun. "Congratulations."
"Yeah." Wan Baiyun nodded. "Pan Pan, I will finish my school courses as soon as possible. Please wait for me. I'll be back soon."
"Okay," Shan Pan replied calmly.
Seeing Shan Pan's lack of objection, Wan Baiyun smiled and said, "Pan Pan, when I return to the Empire, can I pursue you?"
Shan Pan raised an eyebrow. "Why do you want to pursue me?"
Wan Baiyun fell silent for a moment, gathered her courage, and slowly spoke, "Because I love you. I want to be with you for the rest of my life. Is that possible?"
Shan Pan smiled and nodded after a moment, "Mm, we can consider it."
Three years later.
Wan Baiyun completed her courses a year ahead of schedule and, together with her classmates from the Snowshelter planet, established a design studio that was open to various planets.
Wan Baiyun truly had talent, and during her studies, she designed many stunning works, gaining fame on the Snowshelter planet.
Despite already having a certain level of fame on the Snowshelter planet, Wan Baiyun rejected her partners' suggestions and resolutely returned to the Venus Empire to open a branch of her studio. It was because the Empire and her loved ones were waiting for her return.
On her first day back in the Empire, Wan Baiyun arrived at Shan Pan's house and quietly waited at the doorstep for her to come out.
"Mama, mama!" Shan Le had already turned five years old. While Wan Baiyun was studying on the Snowshelter planet, Shan Pan would occasionally bring Shan Le to visit her. The mother and daughter would also have frequent video calls.
So Shan Le immediately recognized Wan Baiyun and ran excitedly towards her.
Wan Baiyun smiled and bent down to pick up her daughter, giving her a kiss on her face that resembled Shan Pan's. "Our little Le Le has grown taller again."
"Yeah." Shan Le smiled happily. "Will mama stay in the Empire from now on?"
"Yes, I won't leave anymore. I'll always be here with you." Wan Baiyun looked into Shan Le's eyes with a warm smile. The previous coldness in her demeanor had long dissipated, replaced by maturity and gentleness.
"Yay! Yay!" Shan Le excitedly raised her hand and kicked her legs. "I want to go down, go down to find mommy and tell her the good news."
"Okay." Wan Baiyun put Shan Le down and watched her quickly run into the house, kicking her little legs. She couldn't help but find it amusing.
"Mommy, mommy, mama is back, at the doorstep, at the doorstep!" Shan Le threw herself into Shan Pan's arm while reading in the study, pointing her little finger towards the direction outside the door.
Shan Pan's face lit up with the same joyous expression as Shan Le's. She put down the book in her hand and smiled, "Why did she come back so early?"
"Maybe because she missed Le Le and mommy." Shan Le hugged Shan Pan's neck and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"Then let me go and see your mama." Shan Pan pinched her daughter's little face. "You go play with grandma for now."
"Okay." Shan Le nodded obediently and went to find her grandmother.
Once Shan Le had left, Shan Pan quickly returned to her room, changed into a decent outfit, and hurried downstairs.
As soon as she stepped out of the door, Shan Pan saw Wan Baiyun standing at the doorstep, with a slender figure and shoulder-length hair.
At thirty years old, Wan Baiyun exuded a mature charm that was absent in her past temperament of anger and impatience. While studying on the Snowshelter planet, she had let her hair grow long, and her golden hair also added a gentle touch to her demeanor.
"It's been a long time." Shan Pan walked up to Wan Baiyun, her eyes filled with affection. "Are you still leaving?"
Wan Baiyun pulled her into an embrace, nuzzling her shoulder affectionately. After catching a familiar scent of milk, she shook her head. "I'm not leaving anymore. Do you still want me, Pan Pan? I want to be with you for the rest of my life."
Shan Pan smiled and raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you say you were going to pursue me?"
Wan Baiyun stood up straight, lowered her head to meet Shan Pan's gaze, and after a moment, she leaned down, capturing her lips in a gentle kiss. "Well, starting from today, I will officially start pursuing you. My beloved Ms. Shan, please guide me."
